Food waste is a massive issue that our society is facing today due to global production. It leads to economic and environmental problems. Therefore, the recycling of food waste into chemical building blocks is a step forward towards bioeconomy and a low-waste society. This process of recycling is known as biorefining. Bioeconomy is based on the idea of creating profit using biomass and hence, reducing the environmental impact. Circular economy is based on the idea of reusing biomass and repurposing it, while generating a profit out of this as well. In our workshop we will delve into these ideas and introduce the audience to a new way of thinking.
